What is Social Business Thursday- Speed Networking?

Social Business Thursday is our featured monthly networking mixer that brings Speed Networking. It's similar to speed dating, but with a twist, specifically aimed  to benefit  startups, business professionals and new entrepreneurs who are looking to expand their business and professional social circles. 1-2 minutes at a time Rotate from business professional to business professional in a comfortable and lively setting! The mixer is structured and casual, providing cocktails and small bites and does require a “Business Cocktail” dress code.

 

What makes 617 Social different from other networking organizations?

We do not host the typical networking events that have you wondering what to expect or if you will actually meet and talk to a potential partner, client or resource. We strategically structure all of our events  so that you get a chance to chat with every business professional in the room. Another way we are different is that we pride ourselves on #networkingfortheculture. This means that we incorporate elements from our roots and heritage in subtle ways throughout all of our events.

 

How do I reserve my place for events?

Business Members receive free speed networking tickets and free or discounted access to all other events hosted by 617 Social. For non-members, the best way to purchase tickets is online on our website or pay at the door as a walkin ticket. It's always best to purchase a ticket online to ensure there is adequate complimentary food and drink available to all professionals. Pending availability, you can also present at any event and purchase a walk in ticket.

 

Is this a dating or singles event?

It is neither. Our goal is to connect new entrepreneurs, start up businesses and professionals who are looking to acquire new business contacts. Our events are for businesses who are wanting to grow their resources, exposure and visibility.

 

What type of people can I expect to meet 617 Social events?

Accomplished individuals just like yourself. Whether you are an entrepreneur, small business owner, legal or medical professional, in the finance, real estate or entertainment industry - our attendees cover a wide range of professionals at the top or on the ladder of success in their particular industry or profession.

 

Do you offer booths to promote a product or business?

With advance notice, business members only are allowed to set up and promote their products. However, this benefit is not available at all networking events. Please check with our member coordinator for which events are allowed

 

What time should I show up for the Event?

The doors open at 6pm and we encourage networkers to arrive by then to enjoy our mingle hour. This hour is reserved for meet and greets, cocktails, small bites and the best caribbean music. We realize that due to the speed networking events being on Thursdays some professionals have a later scheduling, in order to accommodate this we host 2 rounds of speed networking, The first round of speed networking starts at 7 pm and the second starts at 8 pm.. How long will I talk with each business professional at Speed Networking? Each professional will have 2 minutes to talk and answer the prompt on the card, and then you will switch and the other professional will do the same.

 

Is food included with the purchase of my ticket?

Yes, Speed Networking events always offer food, snacks and drinks that vary between hot and cold appetizers, wine and beer. The price is included in the purchase of your ticket or membership. All other 617 social events serve food at a cost discounted to members.

 

How long does a Speed Networking event last?

The length of each round is based on the number of guests in attendance. Generally, each round lasts between 15-30 minutes. There is an intermission in between speed networking rounds. The total event time is 3 hrs.

 

Can I come with my co-workers and/or associates?

Please bring all of your coworkers and associates who have business. We’d love to have them. All they have to do is purchase a ticket on our website or at the check-in desk.  Business members receive a complimentary plus 1 ticket.

 

How Many People Will I Meet?

Our Speed Networking events vary in size, anywhere from 14 - 30 professionals attend  any given event.
